Santa Lucia is a former village and now part of Verona . The place is historically significant as a battle between the Piedmontese , under Karl Albrecht , and the Austrians, under Radetzky , took place here during the course of the first Italian war of independence . In the 6. May 1848 held Battle of Santa Lucia , later was Emperor Franz Josef 's baptism of fire .
