Aurum Hotels
Aurum Hotels (also: Naturino-Sapore di Mare ) was an Italian cycling team .
The former Professional Continental Team was founded in 1996 under the name Cantina Tollo - CoBo. Under the changing sponsors Acqua e Sapone , Domina Vacanze and Naturino-Sapore Di Mare , the core of the team around Vincenzo Santoni always stayed together.
Drivers like Danilo Di Luca , Alexander Kolobnew , Michele Scarponi , Daniele Bennati or Murilo Fischer made their professional debut for the team, but also many veteran professionals such as B. Mario Cipollini , Giovanni Lombardi , Gian Matteo Fagnini , Gabriele Colombo or Filippo Simeoni drove here.
A black day in the team's history was June 15, 2005, when 37-year-old cyclist Alessio Galletti died of cardiac arrest in the Spanish one-day race Subida al Naranco . Another stroke of fate struck the team in November 2006 when Paul Crake was hit by a gust of wind during a pre-season race in his home country Australia on the Southland Tour and fell so badly and suffered a serious spinal injury .
Since the 2007 season, the Aurum Hotels chain has been the main sponsor of the team, which only had a license as a Continental team .
At the beginning of July 2007 the team was suspended by the Italian association due to financial problems. The team was disbanded in late 2007.
