Bragança Castle

Santa Maria is a place and a former municipality ( Freguesia ) in the Portuguese district of Bragança . The community had 3935 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).

It was one of the inner city parishes of the city of Bragança. Some of the most important sights, including the castle complex, are in the area of ​​the former municipality.

On September 29, 2013, the parishes of Bragança (Santa Maria), Meixedo and Bragança (Sé) were merged to form the new parish União das Freguesias de Sé, Santa Maria e Meixedo .
