Santa Maria is a place and a former municipality ( Freguesia ) in the Portuguese district of Trancoso . The community had 1665 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).
On September 29, 2013, the municipalities of Trancoso (Santa Maria), Souto Maior and Trancoso (São Pedro) merged to form the new municipality of União das Freguesias de Trancoso (São Pedro e Santa Maria) e Souto Maior .
