Santa Maria de Colera is a Romanesque church in northern Catalonia , which was built in the immediate vicinity of the Abbey of Sant Quirze de Colera in the 12th century.

Santa Maria de Colera was built just 100 meters west of the basilica of the Abbey of Sant Quirze de Colera. It also forms part of the Natural Park of the Serra de l'Albera ( Paratge Natural d'Interès Nacional de l'Albera ) and belongs to the municipality of Rabós in the Alt Empordà . Santa Maria de Colera from the south

During the second consecration of Sant Quirze Abbey in 1123, Santa Maria de Colera was also consecrated. The relatively small rectangular church, 20 meters long and 10 meters wide, consists of a single nave with an enduring pointed barrel vault. Its longitudinal axis is oriented east-west. The east side of the choir is closed by a semicircular apse with almond-shaped vaults from the 12th and 13th centuries. The apse opens to the church space by means of two pointed arches. On the north side, the wall base slightly protrudes from the rest of the wall. The church interior is illuminated by a total of five window openings . It is a very narrow, elongated arched window with a double beveled reveal. There are three window openings on the south side and one on the west side and one in the apse. The entrance door is on the south side. It is closed at the top by stepped double round arches that sit above a mighty lintel with a semicircular tympanum . Roughly hewn quarry stone from existing slate was used as the building block , which was walled up one after the other as usual.

The church once served as a parish church.

In recent years, various consolidation and restoration work has been carried out on the church, which is still ongoing.
