Santa Teresa (Puntarenas)

Santa Teresa is a resort in the west of the Central American state of Costa Rica .

The place is located directly on the Pacific at the southern tip of the Nicoya Peninsula in the province of Puntarenas about 150 km west of San José . Since the 1990s it has developed from a small fishing village into a constantly growing holiday destination. The Playa Carmen beach of Santa Teresa and that of the neighboring town of Mal Pais are particularly popular with surfers and surfers due to the high waves and constant wind.

The climate is very mild for a tropical beach region. It rains less than in the Caribbean; the forest in this area ranges from dry forest in the north to tropical rainforest in the south.
