The Santander Consumer Finance Benelux BV is a financial institution in the Netherlands with headquarters in Utrecht and belongs to the Spanish bank Banco Santander . Within the Santander Group, the company is part of the Santander Consumer Finance division and is managed via the German headquarters of Santander Consumer Bank AG in Mönchengladbach .

The company has not applied for a banking license in the Netherlands as its focus is on motor vehicle finance and consumer lending businesses.

The company often appears directly under the names of its business partners (e.g. Vroom & Dreesman ) or the trade name comfortcard . Thanks to these collaborations with retail companies and intermediaries , the Santander Consumer Finance brand is relatively unknown in the Netherlands.

history

In 2003, Santander Consumer Bank AG entered the market through the purchase of the Dutch financial services provider Abfin from Wassenaar . This is mainly active in the area of dealer financing. In 2008, as part of the takeover of the European consumer credit business of the Royal Bank of Scotland , the Houten- based RBS (RD) was also taken over by the Santander Consumer Finance group. Since 2009, both parts of the business from Wassenar and Houten have been merged at one location in Utrecht under the brand name Santander Consumer Finance Benelux BV.
