Santiago Martín Paiva Mattos (born January 11, 1999 in Montevideo ) is a Uruguayan football player who is under contract with the first division club Danubio FC .

Career

Santiago Paiva, who comes from the youth department of Danubio FC , was promoted to the first team of the capital city club at the end of Clausura 2017. On November 26, 2017 (14th matchday of Clausura) he made his debut in the 5-0 away defeat against Liverpool FC in the top Uruguayan division when he came on for Ignacio González in the 62nd minute . This was his only appearance that season and in the following season, 2018, Paiva only played two league games.

In the following Apertura in 2019, he got more chances of working time, which he was finally able to use. On May 5, 2019 (11th matchday of Apertura), he took a penalty in the home game against CA Juventud de Las Piedras shortly before the half-time whistle, which was converted by Carlos Grossmüller to make it 2-3-2 . After the break he shot his team with his first two league goals to a 4-3 victory. In the next league games he always started, so that he was able to finish the Apertura with five goals and three assists in nine inserts. In the Intermedio and Clausura he could not keep this quota and he only managed four goals in 16 inserts.
