Carlos Javier Grossmüller (born May 4, 1983 in Montevideo ) is a Uruguayan football player .
Career
society
Grossmüller, who first attended Escuela N ° 187 and later the Liceo , began playing football at Club El Ombú in the Montevidean Barrio Bella Italia at the age of five . For this he ran from 1988 to 1996. The central midfielder , who can also be used as eighth in the half positions , moved to the professional club Danubio FC in its Septima at the age of 13 . With his club he was Uruguayan champion in 2007 . In the championship season he scored twelve goals in 30 games.
The technically adept, 184 cm tall player called Maravilla attracted the interest of foreign clubs through good performances . He was also observed by those responsible at FC Schalke 04 and knew how to please. Shortly after the start of the Bundesliga - 2007/08 season the club area obliged the midfield for four years until 2011. His first season game for Schalke, he played on August 18, 2007, compared Borussia Dortmund ; he scored his first goal with a free kick in the home game against Werder Bremen . On December 8, 2007, Grossmüller received the red card in a game at Eintracht Frankfurt , although he was not on the field. Shortly before the end of the game, he took part in a scuffle and was then sent off the pitch for assault as the first substitute player in the history of the Bundesliga.
After he stayed away from a training session, he was banned from training with the licensed squad in October 2008. The new coach Felix Magath lifted the suspension at the beginning of the 2009/10 season. Until the end of this season, the midfielder was on loan to his home club in Uruguay. On July 29, 2010, his contract with FC Schalke 04, which ran until 2011, was terminated. One day later, on July 30, 2010, US Lecce announced that it would sign Grossmüller. After US Lecce's relegation from Serie A in the summer of 2012, the contract was terminated by mutual agreement.
Grossmüller returned to his home country and joined Peñarol Montevideo . There he completed 15 games (no goal) in the Primera División , two games in the Copa Libertadores and was again Uruguayan champion in the 2012/13 season. In 2013 he moved to Club Atlético Cerro within the Primera División . In the 2013/14 season he played 20 first division games and scored four goals. In the Apertura 2014 it was used nine times (no goal). At the beginning of January 2015 he moved to Universitario de Deportes in Peru . He signed a contract for a season. With the Peruvians he played in eight first division games (one goal) and nine matches (two goals) of the Copa Inca .
In July 2015, he returned to Danubio FC. In the 2015/16 season, he was used in 23 top division games and, according to official association information, scored six goals. Other sources show only five hits for him. He also played an encounter (no goal) in the Copa Sudamericana 2015 . In the 2016 season he only trained with the team of the "Cuarta División" after coach Leonardo Ramos had sorted him out. Under his successor Pablo Rodríguez , he has been back in the first team since January 2017. In the 2017 season he has played (as of July 22, 2017) in 13 other top division games (no goal) and one game (no goal) of the 2017 Copa Sudamericana . In July 2017 his move to the Norwegian club Sandefjord Fotball was announced on the basis of a five-month loan .
National team
Carlos Grossmüller already played under the coaches Gustavo Ferrín and Jorge Da Silva in Uruguay's U-20 . He was a member of the Uruguayan squad at the U-20 South American Championship in Uruguay in 2003 and came to at least two tournaments. He was used three times in 2004 in the Olympic team, which did not qualify for Athens .
He was also a senior player for Uruguay . He played his first game for the Charrúas , as captain, on October 15, 2003 in Chicago against Mexico . However, he did not establish himself as a regular player, but only came on October 18, 2006 for his second use. There are a total of four appearances in the national team; most recently he was used on September 12, 2007 in a friendly game in South Africa .

The player used to have the surname Grosnile , a corruption of the originally German name Großmüller . In 2004 he had the family name changed to Grossmüller based on his German grandfather . That Helmut Großmüller belonged to the crew of the armored ship Admiral Graf Spee, which was sunk off Montevideo in 1939 . Further variants of the footballer's name in the media are Grosmüller , Grossmuller and occasionally even Grösmuller . It is also written Großmüller in German-language publications .
Grossmüller has a daughter born in 2003.
