Sapiranga is a city in the state of Rio Grande do Sul in southern Brazil . It is located in the Vale do Sinos , the valley of the Rio dos Sinos , about 50 km north of Porto Alegre . In this industrial area, the shoe industry and its suppliers are predominant.
Sapiranga is often called the " city of roses ". The annual rose festival, which is celebrated in November with music, dance and roses, has developed from a simple gardening competition.
The population was estimated to be 81,734 as of July 1, 2019.
