Sarah Castle

Sarah Castle (born January 22, 1984 ) is an American wheelchair basketball player and former swimmer.

Castle took part in the Paralympic Games in 2000 and 2004 as a member of the US swimming team. In Sydney she won a silver medal in the 100 m breaststroke discipline. However, a shoulder operation in 2003 limited her swimming career and Castle began to turn to wheelchair basketball.

She graduated from the University of Illinois . There she also played in the wheelchair basketball team and was three times national champion during her student days with this team, namely in 2003, 2004 and 2006. In 2005 Castle was accepted into the US women's national wheelchair basketball team. She graduated in December 2006 and received a bachelor's degree in political science.

At the 2008 Paralympic Games in Beijing , she won a gold medal with her team.
