The Sarajevo National Theater is one of the venues for the Sarajevo International Guitar Festival.

The Sarajevo International Guitar Festival ( Bosnian Međunarodni festival gitare Sarajevo / Међународни фестивал гитаре Сарајево ) is an international multi-day music festival for classical guitar , which takes place annually in April in Sarajevo , Bosnia .

history

The Sarajevo International Guitar Festival was founded in 2011 and is the only festival of its kind in Bosnia and Herzegovina . It has been a full member of EuroStrings - European Guitar Festival Collaborative since 2017 . The festival has hosted numerous international guitarists, including Margarita Escarpa, Rovshan Mamedkuliev, Sérgio Assad, Juanjo Domínguez, Le Trio Joubran , Roland Dyens , Dušan Bogdanović , Yorgos Foudoulis, Sanel Redžić, Petar Čulić, Hubert Käppel and Pablo Márquez.

format

The festival consists of five competitions and three out-of-competition concerts. The latter include evening concerts by established international classical guitarists and the Young Stars concert program, which was designed as an event for aspiring guitar talents. The festival also organizes master classes and workshops at the Sarajevo Music Academy and the Sarajevo National Theater . There is also an annual exhibition of Spanish guitars in the Bosnian Institute.
