Hubert Käppel

Hubert Käppel (* 1951 in Bensberg ) is a German classical guitarist and music teacher .

Life

Käppel studied guitar with Konrad Ragossnig and Oscar Ghiglia, among others . With his interpretations and arrangements of classical compositions, including the 6th piano partita by Johann Sebastian Bach in the early 1980s and works by Johannes Brahms , he received widespread attention. In addition, Käppel gives concerts in many countries around the world.

Käppel gained particular influence through his educational work. He leads the guitar class at the Cologne University of Music and Dance , the International Guitar Festival Frechen and the International Guitar Festival Gevelsberg and founded the Koblenz Guitar Academy in 2001 . The Koblenz International Guitar Competition was named after Käppel. In addition, Käppel often acts as a juror in international competitions.

With Käppel's guitar school , he presented a basic work for classical guitar training, also in an English version as Introducing the guitar . Käppel's students include the contemporary guitarists Tobias Kendung , Helmut Jasbar and Frank Bungarten .
