Sarakreek is a resort in the Brokopondo district , in the Republic of Suriname . The resort has 3076 inhabitants.
It is one of six departments in the Brokopondo district and is by far the largest in terms of area. A large part of the resort consists of the 1560 km² Brokopondo reservoir . This reservoir also includes the Sarakreek in the south . Until the construction of the reservoir, it flowed into Suriname as a right tributary near the village of Koffiekamp, which was also sunk in the reservoir .
