Sarbenitsa ( Bulgarian Сърбеница ) is the main peak in the Ponor ridge (Понор планина) in the west of the Balkan Mountains . The mountain is 1,479 meters high and can be climbed all year round. About one kilometer northeast of Sarbenitsa is the place Simewiza (Зимевица), about three kilometers east of the place Sasele (Заселе) and about 40 kilometers south of the capital Sofia . The summit bears the same name as today's Sofroniewo until 1934 .
