The Sarnoff Mountains are a 40 km long and 6.5 to 13 km wide mountain range in the west Antarctic Marie-Byrd-Land . In the Ford Ranges they loom between the Arthur and Boyd Glaciers .
The western end of this mountain range was discovered during the overflight on December 5, 1929 as part of the Byrd Antarctic Expedition (1928–1930) and roughly mapped on the basis of aerial photographs. More detailed mappings were made in Byrd's second Antarctic expedition (1933-1935) and the United States Antarctic Service Expedition (1939-1941). It is named after David Sarnoff (1891–1971), managing director of the Radio Corporation of America , which provided the radio equipment for Byrd's second Antarctic expedition.
