Sasin Graduate Institute of Business Administration
The Sasin Graduate Institute of Business Administration ( Thai : สถาบัน บัณฑิต บริหารธุรกิจ ศศิน ท ร์ , RTGS : Sathaban Bandit Borihan Thurakit Sasin , pronunciation: [sàʔtʰǎːban Bandit bɔːríhǎːn tʰúʔráʔkìt sàʔsǐn] ) is a graduate school of management ( Business School ) on the grounds of Chulalongkorn- University in Bangkok , Thailand .
history
The Sasin Institute was founded in 1982 by Toemsakdi Krishnamra and attached to the renowned Chulalongkorn University. The institute is a joint venture between Chulalongkorn University and the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University in the US state of Illinois and the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania . The institute has had its current name since December 5, 1987, the 60th birthday of King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
etymology
The name Sasin goes back to two Sanskrit words : sasa (hare) and indra (highest), which means something like "king of the hares". King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX) chose this name for the institute because he was born in the year of the rabbit .
