The Sassykkölsee or Sassykköl ( Kazakh Сасықкөл / Sasıqköl ; Russian Сасыкко́ль / Sassykkol ) is a salt lake in Central Asia in the southeast of Kazakhstan .
The Sassykkölsee lies east of the Balkhaschsee in the Balkhasch-Alaköl-Depression at an altitude of 347 m . The lake is connected to the southeastern Alakölsee via a swamp area. The water area varies between 600 and 736 km². The mean water depth is 3.3 m. The maximum water depth is 4.7 m. The shallow lakeshore is overgrown with reeds. The water level fluctuates by 3 m. The lake is usually covered with ice between November and early April. Tentek and Karakol are tributaries of Lake Sassykköl.
The Sassykkölsee is located in the Alaköl Biosphere Reserve .
The lake is listed as an important bird area in the Ramsar List .
