The Sauer S 1800 UL is an aircraft engine that is produced by the Rhineland-Palatinate company Sauer Flugmotorenbau.

construction and development

The S 1800 UL is a four - cylinder four- stroke boxer engine with hydraulic valve lifters , mechanical fuel pump , single magneto ignition or double electrical ignition and a continuous output of 48 kW (65 hp) at a speed of 3000 min −1 . For a short time the engine allows an output of 50 kW (68 HP) at a speed of 3200 min −1 . With a stroke of 69 mm and a bore of 92 mm, the 63 kg engine has a displacement of 1835 cm² with a compression of 8.5: 1. The propeller is driven directly. The consumption during cruise is eight to nine liters of UL 95.

In addition to the S 1800 UL, the type-approved model S 1800-1 is available in different versions. It has with a stroke of 69 mm and a bore of 90 mm a somewhat smaller displacement of 1754 cc, and makes a maximum of 44 kW (60 HP) at a speed of 3000 min -1 .
