Sauryad-praporshchik
Saurjad-praporschtschik , German Praporschtschik deputy ( Russian Зауряд-прапорщик ) referred to the highest rank of the rank group of NCOs in the Imperial Russian Army .
Historical development
In Imperial Russia , the Podpraporschtschik (ru: Подпрапорщик / Podpraporschtschik) was initially the highest rank of non-commissioned officer until 1906. With the introduction of Saurjad-praporschtschik , this was the highest rank of non-commissioned officer from 1907 to 1917. As a rule, only the most experienced, longer-serving NCOs achieved this rank. During the First World War , Podpraporschiks were also given the rank , who stood for appointment as Praporschtschik or cornet of the cavalry, but could not yet be assigned to these so-called senior officer ranks.
Imperial Russian Army
There were three Praporshchik ranks in the Imperial Russian Army from 1883 to 1919 and in the White Army from 1917 to 1923.
- Unterpraporschtschik ( Russian Подпрапорщик), highest non-commissioned officer in the infantry
- Unterchorunschi (ru: Подхорунжий), highest non-commissioned officer in the Cossack army
- Praporschtschik deputy (ru: Зауряд-прапорщик), here as an officer deputy in the infantry branch
- Praporschtschik (ru: Прапорщик), infantry (only in times of war)
In the service branches cavalry and artillery did not exist, however, these ranks.
