Scandinavians is an English-speaking alternative band from Olfen that was founded in 1989. After a twelve-year hiatus, the band returned in 2009 with a different line-up. With their success at the " German Rock & Pop Prize 2010", the band first gained national attention.

history

The Scandinavians was founded in 1989. The name of the group is based on the attachment of some members to the Scandinavian countries and their culture. The Scandinavians played their last concert for the time being in 1997 without breaking up.

In 2009 the band announced their reunion with a new guitarist and released the album "Indian Summersky", which was awarded the German Rock & Pop Prize as the best "Alternative Album" the following year . In total, the band received five awards at the award ceremony and thus achieved an outstanding result. In addition, the band received awards in the categories “Best Alternative Singer”, “Best Album (English)” and “Best Song (English)”. For their live performance in the Rhein-Main-Hallen in Wiesbaden, the DRMV awarded the group the prize for the “Best Alternative Band”.

In May 2010, WDR 2 played the band on the radio for the first time. In the following three weeks, the band took first place in the audience voting of the WDR-2 music club. Thereupon the WDR 2 showed interest and invited the band for an interview. As a result, other radio stations played the Scandinavians in their program. In December 2010 the band played a concert with Thomas Godoj in the Vest-Arena in Recklinghausen.

Her YouTube channel reached number 87 of the most subscribed channels of the month. In April 2012 the band took 10th place in the international Rock am Ring band contest.
