The German Rock & Pop Musicians Association e. V. (DRMV) based in Lüneburg is an umbrella association for music groups, musicians , composers , copywriters, music journalists , music producers , recording studios , independent labels, publishers and other professional groups in the field of rock and pop music. It awards the German Rock & Pop Awards every year.
History and tasks
The DRMV was founded in 1983 and represents around 20,000 rock and pop musicians as well as music and music companies in Germany.
The goals of the DRMV include the cultural recognition of rock and pop music and the promotion of rock and pop culture in various musical styles. An extensive database with addresses from the music business is available to members. Another important field of activity of the DRMV is the legal and technical advice of its members. The DRMV criticizes the distribution of the royalties collected by GEMA to the composers. In the opinion of the spokesman Ole Seelenmeyer, rock and pop musicians are significantly disadvantaged as authors.
The DRMV sells sound carriers produced by its members under the Rockwerk Records label .
organization
The organs of the association are the board of directors and the board of trustees, in which major players in the music industry are represented, who advise the board. The managing spokesperson is Ole Seelenmeyer. In addition, the partner association Kulturelles Jugendbildungswerk e. V. since 1982 every three months the magazine Musician Magazine and at irregular intervals, the & Music Media book out.
The association is included in the German Pop Foundation and linked to it in terms of personnel. This promotes the musical youth in Germany in the field of rock and pop music. The foundation's board of directors includes Andreas Beyer, Bernd Jöstingmeier , Manfred Augustin and the executive board spokesman Ole Seelenmeyer.
The foundation curators are chaired by Edgar Weiler, Gunther Emmerlich , Lisa Fitz , Günter Gerhardt, Gilbert Gornig, Dieter Thomas Heck , Detlef Horn, Dieter Hertrampf (Phudys), Jean-Jacques Kravetz (Panik Orchester Udo Lindenberg) , Walter Krämer, Claudia Kunkel , Heinz Rudolf Kunze , Julia Neigel , Nicole , Mario Ohoven (President of the Federal Association of Medium-Sized Enterprises), Peter Orloff , Rudolf Schenker (Scorpions), Erich Schulze , Ralph Siegel , Steffi Stephan (Panik Orchester Udo Lindenberg) and Juliane Werding .
German Rock & Pop Prize
The DRMV has been awarding the German Rock & Pop Prize annually since 1983 to bands, solo singers and in 125 other fields of music style. Many special award category groups give additional prizes to registered / applying participants every year.
