Scatman's World is a 1995 music album by Scatman John. It was released after the success of his debut single Scatman . In the album an imaginary utopian society called "Scatland" is described. He describes it with the sentence: “If you're wondering where Scatland is, you don't have to look too far; it's between your deepest dreams and warmest wishes “ (If you are wondering where Scatland should be, you don't have to look far for it; you will find it between your most secret dreams and greatest wishes).
The songs contain various elements of American society and are also aimed at Scatman's personal experiences: Popstar describes the superficial lives of celebrities with an ironic undertone, Quiet Desperation is about the life of the homeless without perspective . Time (Take Your Time) tells about his time with Alcoholics Anonymous .
The ballad Song of Scatland , also released as a single, is dedicated to an imaginary kingdom. Hi, Louis closes the album with traditional scatting and jazz piano, the title may be a reference to Louis Armstrong , who is still in Everybody Jam! from the album of the same name.
Scatman's World was internationally successful, especially in Japan , where it reached number 2 on the charts and stayed in the charts for more than 40 weeks. In total, more than 1.5 million copies of the album were sold.
