location

It is located on the west side of Schönebecker Straße in the Buckau district of Magdeburg .

Architecture and history

The four-storey building was built in 1890 in the neo-renaissance style based on a design by the land owner and contractor CA Schmidt. The richly structured facade is designed with seven axes and has a flat side elevation . In front of the third axis from the left there is a single-axis tower marker, but the original tower hood has not been preserved. Originally there was a gable above the side elevation, but it is no longer there either. The vertical division is made by a profiled cornice. On the first floor, the bel étage, there were triangular gables above the windows, but only some of them have been preserved.

There is a shop on the ground floor. The shop windows are designed like an arcade.

On the back there is a backyard development typical of the construction period. It is more simply designed than the front building and is decorated with colored brick bands.

In the local register of monuments , the residential and commercial building is listed as a monument under registration number 094 17869 .

The building is considered to be significant in terms of urban planning due to its characterizing effect on the street scene. As an example of the development of the Buckau industrial site, the building is also seen as an important testimony to economic and social history.
