Schönfeld is located east of the Wahnbachtalsperre in the Bergisches Land on Hennefer Strasse opposite the village of Remschoss.

In 1888 there were nine residents in the property. In 1901 the homestead had 13 residents. The families Handelsmann Peter Klein and landlord Josef Walterscheid are listed.
The settlement belonged to the Neunkirchen municipality until 1969 .
