Remschoss is a district of the municipality of Neunkirchen-Seelscheid in the Rhein-Sieg district .
location
Remschoss is located on a ridge in the Bergisches Land and is the southernmost part of the municipality. Neighboring towns are Wolperath - Wiescheid and Birken in the north, Heisterschoss in the south and Pinn in the west.
Surname
The name ending -schoss comes from the Ripuarian and means something like projection.
history
Until 1969 the village belonged to the municipality of Neunkirchen .
In 1830 the hamlet of Remschoss had 96 inhabitants. In 1845 the village had 128 Catholic residents in 23 houses. In 1888 there were 90 residents in 18 houses.
In 1901 the hamlet had 88 inhabitants. Are listed the families Ackerer Conrad merchant, Ackerer Joseph Kolf, Ackerer Henrich Kramer, Ackerer Peter Ley, Ackerer Stephan Mahlberg, carpenters Wilhelm Nüchel, distillers Heinrich Albert Oberdieffer, retired Wilhelmine Oberdieffer, Ackerer Heinrich Orth, Ackerer Heinrich Josef Rosauer, Stellmacher Johann Peter Schmitz , Farmer Heinrich Schneider, Farmer Wilhelm Walterscheid and Farmer Paul Wurthscheid.
Schönfeld (Neunkirchen-Seelscheid) on the western side of Hennefer Straße is part of the local area today.
