history

In 1971 the football club “SC Germania Birkenfeld” was founded at the counter of the restaurant “Zur Post” . The club's only team still plays against counter teams from around the community. According to oral tradition, there was already a football club in Birkenfeld in 1926/1927. A teacher from the Birkenfeld village school, which no longer exists, was chairman and cashier at the former “Schwarz-Weiß Birkenfeld”. Today the day care center “Seelkirchen eV” and a Waldorf kindergarten are in the same place .

Every year, the so-called Bureball takes place in the courtyard of the “Zur Post” restaurant . This is a traditional festival that has been taking place for several years and is organized by the male choir 'Gemütlichkeit' Söntgerath eV .
