Stein is a district of the municipality of Neunkirchen-Seelscheid in the Rhein-Sieg district .

location

Stein lies on a mountain shed in the Bergisches Land and is the westernmost part of the municipality. The hill is formed by the Naafbach and Lessbach . Neighboring towns are Rengert and Effert in the east.

history

The village belonged to the community of Seelscheid until 1969 .

In 1830 Stein had sixty inhabitants with the Steinermühle . In 1845 the place had 33 Protestant and 30 Catholic residents in 16 houses. In 1888 there were 75 residents in 15 houses.

In 1901 the hamlet had 63 inhabitants. The families Ackerer Heinrich Heider, Maurer Peter Kissel, small trader Heinrich Kremer, Ackerer Wilhelm Kremer, Ackerer Peter Krumm, Shoemaker Wilhelm Kühler, Ackerer Wilhelm Lohmar, Ackerer Peter Schmitt and the farming family widow Heinrich, widow Heinrich Wilhelm and twice Wilhelm Schöneshöfer are recorded.
