Wahlen is a district of the municipality of Neunkirchen-Seelscheid in the Rhein-Sieg district .

location

Wahlen is located on a mountain divide in the Bergisches Land and is the westernmost part of the municipality. The hill is formed by the Naafbach and Lessbach . Neighboring towns are Rengert and Effert in the east.

history

The village belonged to the community of Seelscheid until 1969 .

In 1830 Wahlen had 50 residents. In 1845 the farm had 39 Protestant residents in nine houses. In 1888 there were 40 residents in 13 houses.

In 1901 the hamlet had 44 inhabitants. The families Ackerer August Bäcker, Ackerer Carl and Hermann Haas, musician Martin Haas, carpenter Heinrich Klink, Ackerer's widow Johann Peter Klink, Ackerer August and Johann Heinrich Naaf, Ackerer Johann Westenhöfer and Ackerer Daniel Zöller are listed.

In 1910 the families August and Robert Bäcker, Karl and Martin Haas, Heinrich Klink, August and Johann Heinrich Naaf, Robert Radermacher, Johann Westenhöfer and Daniel Zöller lived in Wahlen. Almost all of them were farmers, August Naaf was only a day laborer and Radermacher was a miner , probably in the Walpot mine in the valley .
