Birken is a district of the municipality of Neunkirchen-Seelscheid in the Rhein-Sieg district .
location
Birken lies on a ridge in the Bergisches Land between Wahnbachtal and Bröltal . Neighboring towns are Wolperath in the north, Remschoss in the south and Schöneshof in the east.
history
Until 1969 the village belonged to the municipality of Neunkirchen .
In 1830 Birken had 31 inhabitants. In 1845 the farm had 32 Catholic residents in five houses. In 1888 there were 31 residents in eight houses.
In 1910 the farm workers Wilhelm Kißel, Johann Knecht, Peter Josef Knecht and Peter Josef Kolf, day laborer Wimar Meis, farm worker Johann Scharrenbroch, farm worker widow Peter threshold brook, tailor Wilhelm threshold brook and farm worker Johann Stauff lived in Birken .
