Söntgerath is a district of the municipality of Neunkirchen-Seelscheid in the Rhein-Sieg district .

location

Söntgerath lies on the slopes of the Wendbach valley in the Bergisches Land . Neighboring places are Kranüchel in the north, Balensiefen in the east, Hardt and Wende in the south and Oberwennerscheid in the west.

history

In 1830 Songeroth had 66 inhabitants. In 1845 the farm had 53 Catholic residents in 15 houses. In 1888 there were 35 residents in ten houses.

In 1901 the hamlet had 32 inhabitants. The families Ackerer Johann Demmer, auctioneer Johann Klein, Ackerer Peter Josef Klein, Ackerin Widow Wilhelm Klein, Ackerin Catharina Kurtenbach, Merchant Gerhard Wilhelm Kurtenbach, Ackerer Heinrich Wilhelm Kurtenbach, Bricklayer Franz Moos, Ackerer Heinrich Wilhelm Overrödder and Carpenter Wimar Pütz are listed.

Until 1969 the village belonged to the municipality of Neunkirchen .

Meanwhile, the northern towns of Mitteldorf and Oberdorf belong to the village.
