Kranüchel is a part of the municipality of Much in the Rhein-Sieg district . The first documentary mention took place in 1502 as Oberste and Unterste Kranüchel . Former neighboring districts such as Hirtsiefen , Söntgerath and Rothenkreuz were integrated into the local situation.
