Location of Weeg in Much

Weeg is part of the municipality of Much . Weeg was mentioned in a document for the first time in 1402.

location

Weeg is located on the right slope of the Werschbachtal southeast near Marienfeld . The neighboring village in the southeast is Erlen . Weeg can be reached via the state road 312 .

religion

The place is dominated by Catholicism.

A church formerly planned by the citizen Gerhard Stümper (1744-1808) was never realized, although he had made a building site available and in his will he had made it possible to use his property for church purposes in addition to building the elementary school opened in Marienfeld in 1837 . The establishment of some crossroads on the Kirchweg to Much goes back to Gerhard Stümper.

The Way of the Cross there came from the Weeg citizen Philipp Tillmann (1825–1911) . He also supported the construction of the church in Marienfeld financially.

During the Second World War, the Weeg citizen Wilhelm Höhner (1881–1963) vowed that he would build a chapel in Weeg if the place and the soldiers in the field were spared. In 1948 construction began on the chapel, which was inaugurated as the Marienkapelle on May 1, 1949 . May services are held here every year.

In 1901 the hamlet had 61 inhabitants. Listed here are the households Handelsmann PJ Diederichs, Ackerer Peter Josef Funken, Ackerer Wilhelm Höhner, Ackerer Jakob Hoffmann, Ackerer Gerhard Kreuzer, Ackerer Peter Kreuzer, Ackerer Heinrich Josef Steimel, Ackerin Anna Elisabeth Steinbach, Seamstress Katharina Steinbach, Two Ackerer Johann Stümper, Ackerer Joh.
