Sommerhausen is a district of the municipality Much in the Rhein-Sieg district .

Sommerhausen is in the Wahnbach valley . Neighboring towns are Leverath in the east, Kreuzkapelle in the south and Breuch in the west. Sommerhausen can be reached via Landesstraße 189. The Herrenteich is located south of the village .

history

Frederich van Sommerhuss is listed in a loan list for Duke Wilhelm III von Berg from 1487 .

Until 1806, Sommerhausen was a hamlet of the Benrath community in the parish of Much, Windeck in the Duchy of Berg .

In 1823 Sommerhausen had 66 inhabitants.

In 1829 Sommerhausen had 70 inhabitants in 11 houses, in 1843 there were 78 people in 14 houses.

In 1901 the village had 77 inhabitants. These were the households Ackerer Albert Bonrath, Ackerer widow Johann Bonrath, Ackerer Philipp Bonrath, seamstress Catharina Gerhards, tailor and small trader Gerhard Gerhards, the Ackerer of the families Kreuzer Johann iV, Johann V, Maria Magdalena and Peter Josef, carpenter Joh. Kühn, Ackerer Peter Manz, cultivator widow Joh. Peter Oberhäuser, seamstress Catharina Schmitz, the cultivators Joh. And Joh. village life

The village community erected a wooden cross on the village square in 1993 and a pavilion in 1997. May celebrations, summer festivals and a Christmas market are held here.
