Leuscherath lies on the slopes of the Bergisches Land . Neighboring towns are Niederbech in the east and Oberbonrath in the west.

history

Leuscherath was first mentioned in a document in 1378.

Castle

The first owner at that time was Johann von Gevertzhagen . A farm in Niederbonrath and a mill belonged to the small castle, which no longer exists today .

1652 the castle was as noble manor in the Ritter list of the Duchy of Berg except consisted thus entitled to a seat in Parliament.

1650 was Adolf von Katterbach , bailiff von Porz owner, then son-in-law Matthias von Nagel and his descendants (1651-1802). This was followed by bourgeois owners.

Village

In 1901 the hamlet of Leuscherath had 24 inhabitants. The households Peter Alefelder, Anna Bergbach, Anna Catharina Bergbach, Heinrich Josef Heimann, widow Heinrich Hess, Heinrich Josef Hess and Peter Josef Hess and widow Peter Josef Schmitz were recorded. Everyone in the village was a farmer at the time .
