Schlichenbach is a district of the municipality of Much in the Rhein-Sieg district .

location

Schlichenbach is located on the slopes of the Bergisches Land in the western tip of Much. Neighboring towns are Klauserhof in the northeast, Mohlscheid in the south and Scherpekotten in the north.

history

The place was first mentioned in a document in 1496.

In 1830 Birken had 13 residents.

A sandstone cross at house number 3 was built in 1875 by the Schiffbauer family. It is listed under number 122 in the list of architectural monuments in Much .

In 1901 the homestead had 20 residents. The herb manufacturer Rütger Anton Stellberg and the mill owner Peter Schiffbauer lived here. Milling in the Naafbachtal was stopped in 1927, and in 1979 the mill was demolished.
