Bövingen is a part of the municipality of Much in the Rhein-Sieg district . The place was first mentioned in a document in 1079.

Bövingen lies on the slopes of the Bergisches Land . Neighboring towns are Oberheiden in the northeast, Much in the southeast, Neuenhaus in the south, Siefen in the southwest, Birken in the west and Eckhausen in the north. The place can be reached via the state roads 312 and 360. The Bövingen industrial park is located on the L 360 .

In Bövingen there is a farm community and a village festival, old customs such as setting the maypole and the St. Martin's procession and a separate carriage for the Mucher carnival procession .
