Engeld lies on the slopes of the Bergisches Land in the valley of the Hohner Bach . Neighboring towns are Weeg in the north, Erlen in the east, Reinshagen in the south and Hohn in the west. Engeld can be reached via state road 312 .

history

The place was first mentioned in 1559.

In 1901 there was a Nieder-Engeld and an Ober-Engeld.

Nieder-Engeld had 47 inhabitants. At that time the households Ackerer Joh.Bröl, Schreiner Wilhelm Bröl, Ackerer Joh.Peter Engelbertz, Ackerer Joh.Martin Kraus, Schuster Joh. Manz, Ackerer Philipp Manz, Schuster Wilhelm Sauer, Ackerer Peter Schneider, Schuster Peter Söntgerath, Tailor Peter Josef lived here Söntgerath and carpenter Wilhelm Söntgerath.

Ober-Engeld had 15 residents at that time. The tailor Joh. Hubert Fischer, farm worker Peter Flüch and farm worker Peter Josef Neu lived here.
