Berzbach is a district of the municipality Much in the Rhein-Sieg district .

Berzbach lies on the slopes of the Bergisches Land, 200 m northwest of Marienfeld . Wersch is to the west .

history

The place was first mentioned in a document in 1388.

In 1499 the couple Bertram von Nesselrode , Herr zu Ehrenstein and Margarthe von Bourscheid founded a foundation. The income from the Berzbach, Derscheid and Siefen ( Winterscheid ) farms benefited five poor people who were housed in Ütgenbach (Westerwald).

In 1901 the hamlet had 50 inhabitants. Heads of household were Ackerer Heinrich Becker, Ackerer Joh. Becker, Bricklayer Wilhelm Becker, Ackerer Joh. Martin Höller, Ackerer Peter Josef Höller, Ackerer Joh. Gerhard Peters, Ackerer Wilhelm Peters and roofer Gerhard Stommel.

Culture and sights

The Technology & Farmers Museum is located in Berzbach. A votive cross in the village is entered under number 5 on the list of architectural monuments in Much .
