history

The place was first mentioned in 1505 as Bodenrath . The place belonged to the Honrath honor . In 1665 Matthias von Nagel from Leuscherath Castle sold Nieder-Bodenrode to Agnes von Schlebusch from Overbach Castle .

In 1901 the hamlet had 80 inhabitants.
