history

Pillenhof was first mentioned in a document in 1555. At that time there was a rural property in Pillenhof that was managed by a Piel family and was therefore called Pielshof. Over the years this name changed first to Peilshof and finally to Pillenhof.

In 1901 the hamlet had 29 inhabitants. The households Widow F. Bergfelder, Heinrich Lindenberg, Julius Mylenbusch, Joh. Oberdörster, Wilhelm Schauenberg and Heinrich Schöneshöfer lived here. All were farmers by profession .

Trivia

The place name, however, also led to problems because collectors unscrewed and stole the place name sign several times. For this reason, it was welded by the community.

Mining

In the vicinity of Pillenhof mining was carried out on the Gertrudensegen mine. Since 1935 this has belonged to the consolidated Nikolaus-Phönix mine .
