Hermerath is a church village in the municipality of Neunkirchen-Seelscheid in the Rhein-Sieg district in North Rhine-Westphalia . In the center there is the Catholic parish church St. Anna and a playground.

location

Hermerath is the easternmost village in the municipality. It is located in the Werschbach valley in the Bergisches Land . Neighboring towns are Hasenbach in the northwest, Ruppichteroth - Thilhove and - Büchel in the south.

Mill

To the north-west of the village lies the Hermerather Mühle district in the valley. Grain was ground in the eponymous mill until 1962. The mill wheel was driven by the Werschbach . A restaurant was operated in the building until 2015.

Until 1969 the village belonged to the municipality of Neunkirchen .

In 1830 Hermeroth had 91 inhabitants. In 1845 Hermrath had 126 Catholic residents in 23 houses. In 1888 there were 130 residents in 26 houses.

In 1901 the village had 130 inhabitants. There are 26 families listed. In addition to the farming families Franken, Happ, Klein, Kurtenbach, Mahlberg, Roth, Schröder, Siebert and Tenten, the following professions are listed: Rector Peter Bongartz, landlord and butter and egg dealer Wilhelm Bous, seamstress Gertrud Flögerhöfer, Schneider u. Sexton Johann Flögerhöfer, small trader Catharina Franken, carpenter Peter Franken, miller Johann Peter Frings, baker Heinrich Happ, trader Franz Peter Klein, landlady widow Peter Klein, trader Wilhelm Klein, shoemaker Johann Peter Roth, trader Gerhard Siebert and linen weaver Johann Steeger.

Events

The Hermede Rötsch , a small village fair and a small carnival procession take place in Hermerath every year.
