history

The Schüßler monument has been located in front of the birth house of the doctor Wilhelm Heinrich Schüßler in Peterstraße in Bad Zwischenahn since 2010. However, this is not its original location and the monument no longer has its original shape. The by Dresdner sculptor Liddy Hofmann-Juan , the wife of the painter Fritz Max Hofmann-Juan was created bust in May of 1932 on the occasion of the Federal Congress of the biochemical Federal Germany in Radebeul inaugurated and was first on the Madaus - plant in the garden road , later in Garden of the Johannisberg property in Naundorf .

During the GDR era, the bust was apparently no longer wanted. It was smashed at the end of the 1940s and sunk in a park pond belonging to the Madaus des Johannisberg family, where it remained for several decades: In November 2007, two contemporary witnesses supported Hans-Heinrich Jörgensen, a naturopath from Großenkneten , in the search for the remains of the monument. Part of the rubble could be recovered with the help of an excavator; however, the nose, one cheek and one ear were missing. Jörgensen, who also acts as Vice President of the Biochemical Association of Germany, quickly added these missing parts himself and offered the bust to the city of Bad Zwischenahn in consultation with the Madaus heir Udo Madaus . Initially, an installation in the spa gardens was considered, but then the bust was installed in the village and unveiled as part of the celebrations for the 125th anniversary of the Oldenburg Biochemical Health Association.
