Student ticket

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A student ticket , also known as a student collective time card (SSZK) or annual student ticket , is a discounted or free ticket that students who have to use local public transport ( ÖPNV ) receive on their way to school and which is usually valid for one school year . The districts usually finance school transport together with a public transport company.

Every student who has to travel a greater distance to the school facility due to their place of residence receives a student ticket and is obliged to carry a photo or a student ID with a photo for identification. If the student ticket is lost, a new ticket is chargeable.

In order to relieve the pressure on public transport and save costs, attempts are being made to encourage schoolchildren to use bicycles more. A possible variant of this is to pay students a fixed cash bonus if they forego a school ticket, i.e. to replace the use of the school bus service by using the bicycle themselves and to help with the financing of the bicycle.

Another type of card in Germany is the mostly paid school holiday ticket , which is often valid throughout the state during the holiday season.
