Drosendorf bulk box

The Drosendorf bulk box is a bulk box in the KG Drosendorf Stadt in the municipality of Drosendorf-Zissersdorf in the Horn district in Lower Austria . The storage building is a listed building .

Description and history

The Schüttkasten built on a hill south of the town of Drosendorf was built around 1720 by Count Lamberg-Sprinzenstein , the owners of the Drosendorfer estate . Almost two hundred years later, the terminus of the local railway from Retz to Drosendorf was built on the mountainside under the bulk box . During the First World War, the granary served as an internment camp before it was restored to its original function as a granary in the 1920s. After a fire in 1947, a collection point for the Vienna dairy was set up in the warehouse.

The Schüttkasten dominates the townscape of Drosendorf. It is an elongated, three-story building with a high pitched roof . The storey- dividing cornices create a vertical arrangement of the facades, which are framed by plaster blocks at the building edges. The fronts are crowned by curved gables, decorated with stone balls and small obelisks and divided by an intermediate cornice, above a wide cornice . In the middle of the north facade is the original entrance with a baroque stone frame and plaster decoration in the tympanum field .

The access and the new loading ramp are located on the eastern gable front.
