Sagittarius ass in the last link

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sagittarius ass in the last link is a saying in German-speaking countries. It refers to a person, usually a man, who has experienced humiliation , unfair or bad treatment, or who is generally in a low hierarchical position without influence.

The phrase is derived from the military context. Sagittarius is a synonym for soldier and denotes the lowest rank in the German armies. The “last link ” indicates the last position in the formation (“being the last”). The derogatory word ass is used here as a proper name and underlines the state of powerlessness. The form shortened to “Sagittarius Ass” is also common. In group psychology this is the ω position.

Examples:

  • "It is one thing to take part in the war as a lieutenant or general, Paul, another thing to be nothing more than cannon fodder as a shooter ass."
  • “Either your boss likes you, then you might come on the list. If he doesn't like you, you will stay forever Sagittarius ass in the last link. "
