Riflemen

The rifle brigade in the Selikumer Park is not far from the Neuss children's farm in the Selikumer Park on the Obererft . The system was built in 1809 as part of the Napoleonic project north canal according to plans by A. Hagebau and leads part of the water from the Obererft back to the Erft via the Erftumfluter Reuschenberg . For this purpose, the structure has a total of six contactors .

Since 1993, the weir has been a registered monument as an “important testimony to the technology and engineering of the Napoleonic era”.

description

The symmetrical, two-course hydraulic structure was made from ashlar blocks. Between the square pillars with a capitol-like cover, there are 3 iron gunners on each side of a semicircular weir head, which can be regulated using cast-iron racks. On the head of the weir there is the inscription MDCCCIX NAPOLEON EMPEREUR indicating the year of construction and the builder Napoleon Bonaparte .
