Josef Schaberger & Co. GmbH was a company based in Gau-Algesheim in Rhineland-Palatinate . The company developed and produced primarily solid fuels .
history
The Josef Schaberger & Co GmbH was probably founded in 1956 by the two missiles specialists Josef Schaberger and Gerhard Siegmund design organization for military rocket fuels and ballistic research. From 1973 the company also dealt with the development of chemical-technical systems for the production of propellants and explosives. In 1974 the company was taken over by Fritz-Werner Industrieausüstungen GmbH , based in Geisenheim . The existing orders were processed and the plant was finally shut down in 1977/78.
Vorwald affair
The company became known to the wider public in 1957 when the news magazine Der Spiegel reported an alleged betrayal of secrets by the then ministerial director, Lieutenant General Wolfgang Vorwald . Josef Schaberger and Kurt Poschardt, a Nuremberg businessman, asked the Federal Ministry of Defense for financial support in developing new types of solid and liquid fuels. In this context, Vorwald wrote a letter of recommendation, which subsequently led to investigations by the public prosecutor.

Fire-fighting missile
Together with the Frankfurt fire expert, Ernst Achilles , the company worked in the mid-1970s on the development of fire extinguishers for use on extensive airfields in order to be able to improve fire fighting on aircraft.
