As chess Cross in the will Heraldry the crossed common occurrence of piles and beams called when these two Herold images in two colors and possible only double row geschacht are.

The cross used is a common cross . It can hover in the field as a heraldic figure or touch the edges of the shield as a continuous cross and becomes the actual herald image. The designation chess cross in the description of the coat of arms is regarded as unheraldic. When describing the pattern on a beam or pole, the term becomes superfluous in a blazon . This also includes emblazoning it as a nested cross . It is better to name the two crossed heraldic images individually. The cross can also be turned as a St. Andrew's cross in the coat of arms.

The chess cross is not to be confused with the chess cross .
