The Schackhof is a former residence in Prenning , a place in the market town of Deutschfeistritz in Styria . Its history goes back to the end of the 15th century. Today it is privately owned and used as a residential building.

The Schackhof is located in the Prenning district of Deutschfeistritz, in Weingartleiten Weg 2. Immediately in front of the building is the road between Deutschfeistritz and Übelbach .

history

The Schackhof was first mentioned in a document in 1494 and was originally a free nobleman seat. After being used as a toll house, it came into the possession of the Frohnleitner citizen Ivan Schack, to whom the Schackhof owes its current name. Schack used the property as a wine house and also had vineyards planted. The remains of the terraced vineyards can still be seen in the area, the press house has not been preserved. Since the 1980s, the Schackhof has been owned by the Hirnthaler family, who renovated the building, which was considered to be in danger of collapsing, and used it as a residential building.

layout

When Schackhof is a two storey building with Schopfwalmgiebel . The sgraffito decorations on the gable wall were made around 1620. From its use as a wine house, a large vaulted cellar has been preserved, which is used as a living room. Inside the building there is also a carved wooden tram .
